Aaaah, the Pogues...my youth in soundtrack! Hell's Ditch was the soundtrack of a visit to Thailand in the early '90s(Singha beer don't ask no questions, Singha beer don't tell no lies!)and If I Should Fall From Grace with God has the all-time best Xmas song on it; the Fairytale of New York!
On a related note, I found on the Youtube sidebar a Pogues version of the Australian song "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" which I always found too sentimental and thought said more about attitudes to the Vietnam War than its subject matter; Gallipoli. This version, though, with Shane MacGowan's gravel-gargling voice lends, it much more credibility and left me with the hair standing up on the back of my neck!
The Garda didn't look like this in Ballykissangel from what I remember...
ReplyDeleteIs this your Tropical Kit for the coming months I assume?
You 'rambling boy of pleasure', you!
