Shut it! Miniatures

I'm not entirely sure these fellows are after grouse...

Matt over at Elheim miniatures has a very interesting deal going at the moment.  He will sculpt 1/72 scale miniatures for £20 a head. The miniature will be cast and available to buy from Elheim at the usual rate (typically 80 cent a figure), though the original commissioner will enjoy a discount. All rights remain with Matt. You can read about the matter in more detail here.

Image

Matt's work is rather excellent as you can tell from his rendition of Bodie
and Doyle from The Professionals, painted by Mr E.

I've always had a very soft spot for "The Sweeney" and proposed a small range of seven figures based on iconic British cops and robbers. Matt has already done some work on them and I think things are coming along swimmingly, however, I cannot seem to find a reference picture I would like for DI Regan.  There is a picture, I think it was used on one of the later episodes, because John Thaw is wearing a padded jacket, where DI Regan is swinging a pickaxe handle.

You can see the work in progress here.

The complete range should feature

1. Kray twin with webley
2. Kray twin with sterling
3. Gene Hunt in overcoat and gloves
4. DI Regan with pickaxe handle
5. DS Carter
6. Carter of Get Carter with shotgun
7. Bill Savage of 2000ADs Invasion! with a shotgun

This picture of a piece of graffiti is the closest I've been able to come to
a picture of the image I'm looking for.

Does anyone out there in Internet land have a better picture of this image ? I'm almost sure it was used as the cover of something...

  1. DI Regan with pickaxe handle ? Er, walking stick with rubber ferrule I think! I do hope the Garda don't take their inspiration from such ungodly rotters...

  2. Great stuff CK. Classic quote from the series "We're the Sweeny son, and we've not had any dinner!" Looking forward to seeing the end result.

    1. Very much so, we're the first group to get a build off the ground, so we'll see how it goes.

  4. Kinch, as a heads-up, the picture of the Professionals isn't showing up. I know what they look like, but y'know, figure you might want to check the picture's hosting or something.

    You slag.

  5. Other possibles, given that we're mixing fact and fiction -

Barlow and Watts. (And maybe Lynch and Smith)
Buster Edwards and the train robbers.
    Nipper Read.
    The Richardsons.
    Rachman.
    Mandy Rice-Davies and Christine Keeler.

And honestly, would it be a complete set without Harold Shand?
