Take me to church

And that's quite enough from long haired whingers from Greystones.  I've had this DAPOL church kit in stores for quite some time now and I've finally put a brush to it.

This is obviously a base coat and will need additional work, but I picked up a packet of large brushes in a pound shop recently.  I think they are for makeup. The large brush made short work of the building and I managed to knock it out in twenty minutes.

  1. I have this model as well but have never got around to building it - they do a very nice windmill as well , Tony

    1. Hopefully a bit of highlighting will improve things.

  3. It is a lovely building. The packet comes with a warning that original production techniques are used and that the builder may find some parts warped (which they will replace).

I had a slight buckle (warp) in the rear wall, but gluing with a hot glue guns brought everything into square ... more-or-less anyway.

I note yours does not have the cross on the bell-tower roof .... did yours snap off as well?

Anyway, nice building with a nice footprint.

I think this link will bring mine up - not sure if it will work here ... link

    1. I decided to add a wire cross as the plastic one looked rather fragile. I can't seem to get that link to work I'm afraid.

  4. Perfect for skirmish gaming but useless for anything that uses rules that have a figure to man ratio because of the physical scale of the building which will be like a cathedral in comparison to the amount of actual ground space it occupies! EG in Age of Eagles La Haye Sainte is 25mm x 50mm in area and the whole of Hougoumont no larger then 100mm x 100mm in area.

  7. One can't have enough churches on the wargames table. That's a very fine specimen.
