You 'rambling boy of pleasure', you!
ReplyDeleteAaaah, the Pogues...my youth in soundtrack! Hell's Ditch was the soundtrack of a visit to Thailand in the early '90s(Singha beer don't ask no questions, Singha beer don't tell no lies!)and If I Should Fall From Grace with God has the all-time best Xmas song on it; the Fairytale of New York!
On a related note, I found on the Youtube sidebar a Pogues version of the Australian song "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" which I always found too sentimental and thought said more about attitudes to the Vietnam War than its subject matter; Gallipoli. This version, though, with Shane MacGowan's gravel-gargling voice lends, it much more credibility and left me with the hair standing up on the back of my neck!
